From The Mouths Of Babes

Each night I have the honor of tucking my boys into bed and often times they want me to tell them a story or sing them a song.  Several years ago (to my delight) my oldest son began to have a fascination for the stories of Jesus.  So we have spent many hours going through story after story of the adventures of Jesus Christ.

I love the sponginess (if that is a word) of children because they soak up every word you say.,..good and bad.  On our way home from a cookout one weekend, my wise beyond his years son (who was 5 at the time) began telling his mom the story out of John 13 where Jesus washed the disciples feet...The details were somewhat sketchy, however the concept was there, but there was one thing that caught my ears attention.

He did not refer to the twelve as the disciples...to him they were the "Recycles".  Isn't that what we all are?  We come to Christ broken and used.  Some of us are so soiled that many wouldn't touch us with a ten foot pole, but in comes Jesus.  He picks us up, cleans us off, and gives us a brand new opportunity to be used again for something with eternal consequences.

I'm glad Jesus is in the recycling business and I am humbled to be considered one of His "Recycles."
